May 21... Rapture Day?

Some of you may have heard all the talk about today being the end of the world, some of you may not have. Actually, today wasn't predicted to be the end of the world, but rather the rapture. Supposedly 5 months from today the world will end... If you ask me it's all a big gimmick that has received its popularity almost solely by people who mock at any sort of rapture or end to this world. And it involves buying T-shirts so someone can get rich from this ridiculous scam.... You can read about it - and buy T-shirts from - here: http://judgementday2011.com/.

Now while I am really very cynical about this whole thing, it did arouse some interesting thoughts that had crossed my mind several times recently even before I heard about this. I keep reading from various places in the Bible about how we should be preparing for and anticipating Christ's Second Coming and living our lives as though the rapture were imminent. Then last week in English I had to write a paragraph about how I would live if I knew my life was going to end in exactly one year. What an interesting thought! I'd never spent much time seriously considering that before. But how important it is to live our lives to the fullest while we have the chance! We can never know when our time here will end, and if we go on living the way we are, will we have any regrets when our life suddenly and unexpectedly ends? Is there anything you know ought to do before you leave earth that you have been leaving until "later" or "when I'm more mature/prepared/ready"? I know there are many things I would regret not having done if the rapture had come today.

Another interesting aspect which crossed my mind is time management. I don't know of [m]any people who can honestly say they don't have a busy schedule. On the other hand, there are more people than I can possibly remember who have their weeks completely booked out and live in a state of constant productivity. Which is great, don't get me wrong. It's fantastic to see people work so hard to achieve their maximum potential, and I believe that all of one's time should be spent in a productive and beneficial activity. However I think that a lot of people just like myself have fallen into the trap of thinking, "I'm busy doing productive things. Therefore I am managing my time wisely and don't need to worry." We may be spending our time on good things, but are they the best things? I personally spend a lot of time on various music-related activities; all very productive and beneficial, I can tell you. But I find myself wondering if Jesus wouldn't be living quite differently in my place. I mean, surely I can't honestly believe that Jesus would spend hours practicing for an exam just to get a better mark when there is so much more a Christian can and should be doing. Please don't get me wrong - I do believe that music is God's gift to me and I intend to use it in whatever way possible for His service, but I think I have become too caught up with "getting ready to do God's work" and have actually forgotten that NOW is the time to do God's work. Does anybody else find that? You just keep telling yourself that what you're doing is okay because one day it will enable you to serve God better? But I think God wants us to enter His ministry TODAY. While it is, of course, important to plan ahead and prepare for the future, I need to be especially careful not to LIVE in the future and pass up present opportunities to achieve God's plans for me.

Having said that, another area in which I struggle is in actually just spending time alone with God. I tend to be a Martha, always rushing around doing things that I think will help, when really what I need to do is get to know God as a close friend and spend time with him. If the Second Coming were to come some time soon, I would be very regretful of how little time I have spent alone with Him as a friend.

I apologise if I have offended anyone with some of my controversial views. If you don't believe in the rapture/Second Coming, I'm sorry to have presented my beliefs so forcefully.

So now my challenge is to put all this rambling into practice. How would I live if this day was my last? If I only had one week left to live, what would I be doing?

Some food for thought, anyway...

These Autumn Golden Days!

Autumn is a beautiful time of year... =) Enjoy looking through the photos below!

It snowed! =D Last Saturday we woke up to find it had snowed during the night! =D What an excitement! XD Matthew went into the little boys room, and was trying to get them up, but nothing would work. What sleepy-heads. ;P All until he mentioned the word 'snow', at which Joseph JUMPED UP wide awake and jumped off his bed. It was the funniest thing! XP Below are a couple of pictures of the snow! =)

Unfortunetely I got no photos of us playing in it. =( Caitlyn and I had a soccer game to go to just after I took these photos. Boy, was it freezing! =S But fun! =D And 'sock-soaking.' =P

It was SO funny, because on our way to soccer, we drove past here not realizing there was some people skiing, and then when we DID realize it, we were like "Uh, were those people skiing back there?! =O THEY WERE!" *turns around and drives back to watch them* It was the funniest thing! XP Thenn, after watching them, and taking photos (=P hehe!) we realized we knew them, and then they turned around and noticed us, so we sorta screamed our 'hey' and some other madmen in the car were doing signs and 'thumbs up' and all that! =P The poor people didn't recognize us (I don't think... I hope =O =P) and were just staring awkwardly. =P So yeahh.. It was seriously the funniest thing! XD You had to be there! ;)

This week we've been 'Leaf raking' and piling ready to burn. Me and my 'transporter.' My fail of a photo! =P

I'm looking forward to...

A good many things, actually. But in particular there are several things that are coming up very soon that are cause for great anticipation.

Homeschoolers' Picnic! Yay! But since I'm slack this didn't get posted until after the event. It was awesome, even if we DID do soccer pretty much all day - except for 3 games of poison ball. Don't get me wrong: I LOVE soccer and would prefer it over any sport any day. It just would have been nice to have a bit more time to actually do some catching up with everyone. It wasn't until afterwards that I realized how little I'd actually spoken to my friends there. It was great to see everyone there, though, and hopefully we'll be seeing some of you again soon.

ORCHESTRA!!!! Starting on Thursday, I will be having my very first proper orchestral experience this week. To say I'm excited would be a severe understatement. I'm pretty sure it will be 4 days packed with the most intense musical epicness I've ever experienced. At least I hope so. It will be fantastic to get together with some other musicians again, since I haven't really done that since MuST finished last year. I'm sure to learn a lot there, and I can't wait to meet some more of the musicians around the area.

DRIVING!!! Only 3 days after I finish my musical adventure with the Canberra Concerto Orchestra I will sit for my Driver's Knowledge Test to qualify for my Learner's License. The amount of excitement involved in being able to drive soon cannot be expressed in words. If you try to imagine all the energy contained in an atomic bomb and multiply that by one billion to the power of one trillion then you'll have an idea of how excited I am. Pretty soon I'll have to start counting down the days until I get my P's and can actually drive myself around.

Canberra Rabbit Show. Even though I'm very excited about this too, it's not quite on the same level as the other things I've mentioned so far. This will be only the second time I get to exhibit my rabbits competitively, and I'm very much looking forward to it now that I know what to expect. The one rabbit I showed last time did very well on the show table and now that he's matured more I'm sure he won't disappoint. It's so rewarding to see all the hard work you put into breeding, raising, careful selection, and maintenance pay off in an animal that is valued by even some of the most respected exhibitors in the country. I'm especially looking forward to being able to learn more about the hobby and catch up with some people there.

As well as all that I can't wait to see lots of friends in the near future, and of course I'm looking forward to Term 2 and all the usual exciting things that happen in the school term.

What things are you looking forward to?

Ventura newsy-ness Part 1

I'm sorry I haven't posted for such a long time! Heres some photos of what we've been up to lately! =)

Now heres the photos that I took at the Homeschoolers Picnic back in April, that I'm FINALLY posting about! =S Sorry its taken SO long! =( Also, I had a problem with my camera and lost half the latter half of all the photos I took! =O ='( So I was/am REALLy dissapointed about that, but these will have to do! =) It was a VERY fun day, and we really appreciate the Roberts' organizing it! =D
