Free to a good home

This little boy needs a new home. He's only 14 weeks old, and exceptionally docile and good natured, but I can't afford to keep him as he isn't up to breeding standard. Free with a week's worth of food and rabbit care information sheets.

  1. He is pretty cute! I will have to ask Joel about it. :)
What type of rabbit is he? And how much care/time is involved with caring for a rabbit?

  2. He is a Mini Cashmere Lop with a bit of Mini Rex in the background, which is why his ears haven't lopped yet. (I expect they will before he gets much older.) Being a hybrid, he is hardier and should live longer than a purebred.

Rabbits are very low-care pets. It only takes me about 4 minutes a day to look after and breed a number of them. Give them pellets and water daily, grass/greens once in a while, and clip the nails every 6 weeks or so. Other than that, the only thing you need to do is maybe groom him when he's in a moult (probably once a year). Of course he could do with extra attention on top of this if you want to keep him friendly and sociable. If you get busy, though, they don't react very badly to lack of attention; I have some that haven't been played with for months but are still perfectly happy to sit on your lap for hours at a time.

I've only ever had to visit the vet once, and that was for a breeding-related ailment. I vaccinate my own rabbits against Calicivirus, and other than that they're pretty hardy animals. I keep all mine outdoors where they cope fine with the weather extremes - in summer you'll need to make sure they don't get too hot, though.

Hope this helps a bit. If you have any more questions you can always look at my website http://rabbitcare.yolasite.com or feel free to ask me directly. :)

    Matthew.
